Angela Aucoin
Angela has been involved in health and fitness for the last decade. With a background as a NASM certified personal trainer, observing alignment and movement patterns have become second nature to her. Upon moving to San Diego in 2009, Angela discovered the transformative powers of yoga practice in her own life. She has since received her 200 Hour training from Yoga One, learning from master teachers Diana Beardsley and Amy Caldwell; as well as her 500 hour training through Yoga Works. In addition, Angela leads a corporate wellness initiative program at the fast growing local company Fresh Healthy Vending. Kairou Chiou
I am a Certified Massage Therapist currently pursuing a Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)--Acupuncture, herbal remedies, and Tui Na (graduating Dec. 2013). Early in the Master's program, I overestimated my limitations and attempted to juggle the multiple compartments of my life. Like many, I prioritized work and school over my health and well-being. It was over a year before I realized how thinly spread I felt and the irony of my circumstance. Here I was learning how to help others achieve balance, and yet I was not living it - not by a long stretch! Upon this awakening, I decided to put my studies on pause in order to live them in practice. I aimed to return to a happier, healthier, more vibrant me, and yoga was my remedy.
In 2011, I sought the guidance of my friend and mentor, Bonnie Jones, and became a certified yoga instructor (200 hrs) through the La Jolla Yoga Center with Jeanie Carlstead. The training I received has been essential in both expanding and deepening my practice, as well as helping me reclaim balance in my life. Yoga helps me find ease and comfort in heart, mind and body, and I hope to share the joys and benefits of my experience with my students. I strive to bring a sense of fun, freedom, and kindness in the classes I teach by creating new and unique sequences with emphasis on breath, alignment, and yogic philosophy. I also integrate music, props, aromatherapy, and adjustments as appropriate.
